Manly Boatshed not all that scary after all!

Hi there friendly fridgy.com-er. Well I finished off a big string of gigs this week at the Manly Boatshed. To be perfectly honest I was quite nervous about that place. I didn’t have the best gig there earlier in the year (the one I’ve spoken about on this blog before where all my friends came to watch… remember? Good.) but it went fantastic! I was the MC and a good crowd turned out to see Chris Franklin. First Jonas Holt was the support and wow, I’ve never seen a comic who talks so fast! I can’t even THINK as quick as he talks – it’s quite a talent. When I got back on stage after his set to throw to the break (intermission) I must have sounded like I had been pulling bongs during his set because of how slow I would have seemed compared to the can of Red Bull that was on stage moments earlier.

Then there was Chris Franklin.

He did great! I had been looking forward to seeing him live (as I, like everyone else know Chris for his hit parody song “Bloke”), so actually getting to share the stage with him was fantastic. He is a great bloke and he doesn’t in any way play a character. He is genuinely the most Aussie guy you’ve ever met and he sung his song near the end of his set, much to the delight of the now-very-drunk crowd.

Also, there were some Danish girls in the crowd who were quite attractive. Of course they hated me after I asked them “do you just call them pastries?”. The crowd pissed themselves but they just scowled. They either didn’t find it funny, or they didn’t get it. Probably both. It is a fairly lame question, but it had to be asked.

Ok, that’s it for this week. I’ve got one gig for the year left which is next Friday night at Mocean Bar in Bondi. I’ve started booking for January so stay tuned for upcoming dates!

Thanks people!
Done.
